Sussex East: Patcham Aces

About the team

Team formed in 1949 when the Patcham Pirates disbanded.

Their track was built high on the Downs, the location being Ladies Mile Road, Patcham(North of Brighton).

The track however was not considered good enough for competitive racing, and most of their fixtures were raced away from home.

Team took their name from the Manchester Speedway team.

Team Colours: Blue with Black Ace in White Triangle.

The inspiration however came from the Wimbledon Speedway team.

Their hero was Jack Parker, and at one time they considered asking him to become the club president.

Rode non league 1949-1952.

Club Manager: Bernard F. May, 158, Mackie Avenue, Patcham, Brighton, Sussex.

Disbanded prior to the start of the 1952 season after losing their track.
