About the team

Team formed and track built in 1960, this being the brain-child of Jim Cooke.

In 1961 entered two teams(A & B) in the new Poole & District League.

Ceased racing end of 1982 season.

Track was at Iford Lane Playing Fields, Iford, Tuckton, Hants.

Track Dimensions: 90yards x 14ft, tarmac surface.

Club Colours: Blue/Yellow.

Affiliated to the British Cycle Speedway Federation in 1961, racing in the British League.

In the Winter of 1971/72 the track was drastically changed to a tarmac surface.

A challenge match between Bournemouth & Bristol opened the new tarmac track, in which Bristol snatched victory by just two points in the very last heat.

Raced in the English League 1974/75/76.

Individual Honours.

1969 Tony Clarke(18) won the Pride of the South at Bournemouth, runner up was Geoff Patman(17) of Exeter, 3rd was Clive Hurrell(Norwich), after a run-off with John Hocking(Southampton, both riders scoring 15 points.

1974 Derek Knight came runner up in the National Individual Final.

1977 Phil Gard(20 max) won the English League Junior Riders Championship at Poole, runner-up Andy Lake(18) of Poole after a run-off with Colin Nicholls(18) of Wednesfield,

The 1980 British Under 21 Individual Final was held at Iford Lane, Bournemouth. The Referee was Mr Dave Hunting(Suffolk). The winner was John Goodyear(Somersham-Suffolk) with 18 points, runner-up was Kevin Marson(Coventry) on 17 points, 3rd was Pete Stephens(Thurrock-Essex) with 16 points.
