About the team.

It is alleged that the club was started by James 'Jim' Clatworthy.

Lost original track in 1949 and built a temporary track in Walthamstow Stadium car park. New track was opened on the 20th May 1950.

The track was at the rear of the White Hart Hotel at the end of Temple Mills Lane E15, which now houses the new Olympic Stadium for 2012.

Club Secretary: J. Morement, 4 Gilbert Street, Stratford, London E15(1964).

Team Manager: Ken Lewington(1969).

Raced two teams in the Walthamstow & District League 1949.

Raced in the First Round of the "World" Cup in 1949, beating Cricklewood Cobras(London North West) 63 - 32 in the 1st leg. Top Scorer: Ron Stevens 13.

Raced in the Edmonton & District League 1950.

Raced in the Hertfordshire League 1952/53/54/55/56.

Raced in the County of London League 1952.

Raced in the Essex League 1954.

Raced in the New Middlesex League 1956.  

Raced in the Home Counties League 1963 - 1966(Div 1).

Raced in the Home Counties League 1969.

Club disbanded in 1971, with Newham Hammers taking over the Temple Mills Lane Track in Stratford.

The track was eventually demolished in the 1990s, but had ceased as a racing track much earlier.

Individual Honours.

1959 John Brown won the County of London Individual Championship, runner up was Keith Taylor.

1959 Dave Hamilton won the Junior County of London Individual Championship, runner up was S. Gibbons after a three way run-off.

1960 Mick Curry(15) won the Essex County Junior Individual, runner up was John Pipe(14), and 3rd was Ray Swinchatt(13) of Hawbush Hammers.

1961 Mick Curry(13) won the National Junior Individual at Uxbridge, runner up after a run-off was Pete Povey from Vic Collins, both scoring 11 points.

1961 Mick Curry(15) won the Junior Middlesex Grand Prix at Hendon, runner up Vic Burton, 3rd John Pipe.

1962 Eric Hemsley won the Essex Senior Individual.

1962 Bill Kemsley won the Essex Junior Individual.

1970 Stan Moore(15 max) won the East London Individual Championship at Whipps Cross. Runner up was Ray Blackburn(14), whilst Vic Haines finished 3rd on 13 points.

Club Honours.

1954 won the Hertfordshire League Championship.

1958 won the Middlesex County Championship.

1960 won the Essex Junior Shield, runners up Crusaders, 3rd Hawbush Diamonds.

1962 won the Essex Senior League Title.

Speedway Riders.

Malcolm Brown rode for Hackney and Leicester.

Billy Spiers rode for Hackney.
